Information EXPLOSION!

The idea of an information explosion is not a new one. Just as people have always lamented the kids these days, they’ve also been concerned about the amount of information available and how to store and categorize it. Still, the amount of information we’re currently generating is staggering. Check out this graph from the 1000memories blog:

Yep, Facebook’s photo “library” is 10,000 times the size of the digital collection at the Library of Congress. While most of the photos from Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, and the endless other photo sharing programs are self-categorized, there is still A LOT of information out there for an aspiring information professional to organize. So, next time someone asks me whether it’s prudent to get an expensive MLS degree, I might share this tidbit:
